Learn how Nashville Association of Adaptive Sports members Shannon and Natasha partnered with You Cane Give to donate Goalballs to blind students in Ethiopia and expand access to adaptive sports.
The Nashville Association of Adaptive Sports (NAAS) is sharing the story behind a meaningful adaptive sports equipment donation that is helping blind students in Ethiopia gain access to the sport of Goalball.
NAAS members Shannon and Natasha recently spoke with You Cane Give Founder James Boehm about their inspiration for donating Goalballs to students who are blind or visually impaired. The conversation explores how adaptive sports can provide opportunities for participation, confidence, teamwork, and inclusion.
Goalball is an adaptive sport created for athletes with visual impairments. Players use sound and communication to compete, making specialized equipment such as Goalballs essential for athletes and students who rely on this sport to participate.
For Shannon and Natasha, the decision to support blind students in Ethiopia was about more than donating equipment. It was about helping provide access to an activity that promotes independence, connection, and opportunity.
The donation is part of the ongoing mission of You Cane Give, an organization focused on supporting individuals and communities by providing resources that improve lives. By connecting adaptive sports equipment with students who need it, You Cane Give helps expand access to sports around the world.
In this interview, Shannon, Natasha, and James Boehm discuss:
