Vanderbilt Eye Expo

On June 1, 2024, the You Cane Give Initiative participated in a remarkable resource expo at the prestigious Vanderbilt Eye Institute. This event was a vibrant confluence of compassion and innovation, aimed at transforming lives through the power of mobility aids, resources, mental health services, and community outreach. Attendees had the unique opportunity to learn about the profound impact of canes on the lives of the blind and visually impaired Attendees also met over 35 other organizations, assistive technology representatives,  and guide dog schools

For many, this expo marked their first encounter with canes, unveiling the vital role these tools play in fostering independence and confidence. The event highlighted various types of canes, their functionalities, and the stories of those who have been empowered by them.

A highlight of the day was the generous outpouring of support from the community attending the event. Many participants donated their old canes, contributing to a cause that transcends borders. These donations will be distributed globally, providing essential support to individuals in need, particularly in underserved regions.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our supporters and passionate advocates. Your contributions and enthusiasm are the bedrock of our mission to assist the blind around the world.
